Wastewater site’s £3.1m upgrade will support growing population

Major works are underway to improve

Major works are underway to improve how we treat wastewater at our Forest Green Wastewater Treatment works.

The £3.1 million construction project, on the Surrey Sussex border near Horsham, will ensure the works can accommodate a growing population in the local area by 2035.

Additional tanks are being added to aid the treatment process, as well as a new stage to remove phosphorus from the final effluent.

Project Manager for Southern Water, Robin Woodward, said:

“We know how important it is to protect and enhance water quality and our precious environment across the areas we serve. These vital improvements at Forest Green Wastewater Treatment Works are much needed in our effort to continually improve the way we treat wastewater.”

Project Manager for contractor GTb, Pat Leonard, said:

“This is one of several projects we are working on in the local area. The work will help Southern Water meet its environmental targets. We’d like to apologise to the residents of Forest Green for any disturbance while we carry out this essential work.”

Further updates about the project will be provided in due course via our website.
